Blaquiere earned Eastern A All-Conference honors

(Miles City, MT) – The Miles Community College women’s basketball program has announced the signing Miles City’s Tess Blaquiere to a National Letter-of-Intent for the 2012-13 school year.  For the Cowgirls this past season, the 5’9” forward averaged 13.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.  She scored 20 or more points five different times with a season-high of 25 points in the opening game of the season against Dickinson, North Dakota.

For a Custer County District High School team that went 8-12 on the year including a pair of heartbreaking overtime losses in the Eastern A Divisional tournament, Blaquiere was still able to earn All-Conference honors as a senior.  Not only was she an All-Conference performer, but also selected to represent the Eastern A in the Treasure State Classic.  The Eastern A team defeated the bigger Eastern AA squad in the championship game 77-63.

Not only did she excel on the court, but also in the classroom as well as she was a member of the National Honor Society and earned Academic All-State honors both as a senior and junior.

Blaquiere is the fourth signee to join the Lady Pioneers for the upcoming school year.  Miles Community College went 22-10 this past season before falling to Casper College in the Region IX tournament quarterfinals.  The search for a new head coach is ongoing as former head coach Lindsay Woolley has recently resigned to take the same position at the University of Montana – Western.
