MCC Adds Three Forks Standout in Women's Hoops

Malmquist a former All-State athlete

(Miles City, MT) – Miles Community College outgoing head coach, Lindsay Woolley, has signed 5’8” Ashley Malmquist (Three Forks) to a National Letter-of-Intent for the 2012-13 school year.  The signee was a three-year starter for the Wolves and helping Three Forks High School reach the Class B State Tournament three out of her four years.

Malmquist, a two-time All-Conference player averaged 10 points and six rebounds as a senior in 25 games.  Her performance this year helped earn her a spot on the Crowne Plaza All-Star teams.  As a junior, Ashley was also an All-State performer and H.I.T. All-Star selection. 

She’s a three-sport athlete, in addition to basketball she excelled in volleyball and golf.  As a netter, she earned All-State honors.  As a golfer, she advanced to the state tournament her junior year.  Not only did Ashley excel in athletics, but also in the classroom, where she is an Academic All-State performer all four years.

The Lady Pioneers finished the 2011-12 campaign with a 22-10 record and reaching the Region IX tournament quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.  Woolley is leaving MCC to take the same position at the University of Montana – Western.  The search is currently underway to find his replacement.
