(Miles City, MT) – In the first home game of 2012, the Lady Pioneers fell to the #6 Lady T-Birds 68-51 to move to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in the North sub-region.

MCC hit the first basket of the game giving them their only lead of contest before Casper would hit a three-pointer to take a 3-2 lead with 17:30 remaining in the opening period.  From that point forward, Casper led throughout the whole contest.  The nationally ranked Lady T-Birds pushed the lead out to as many as nine in the opening period several times including a 15-6 lead with 10:29 remaining in the half.  MCC was able to cut the lead to one (19-18) at the 4:23 mark but would never get over the hump.  Casper would take a 29-23 lead going into the break.

In the second half, the margin stayed within single digits until 15:27 on the clock in the second half when Casper pushed the lead out to 11.  From that point forward they began to stretch it out to as many 20 points before prevailing 68-51.

Miles struggled shooting the ball last night, hitting just 37 percent from the field, including just 1-of-17 from long distance.  They also failed to connect at the free-throw stripe, hitting just 6-of-14 (43 percent).  Casper won the battle of the boards, outrebounding MCC 44-35 leading to 13 second chance points.

The Lady Pioneers were led by freshman forward Tessa Rouane (Columbus) with 12 points off the bench, the lone player in double figures for the home team.

Next up for the Lady Pioneers is a trip to Riverton, WY to face Central Wyoming College on Saturday with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 PM.
