Miles Community College Starts 5-Game Homestand

Toys for Tots promotion this weekend

(Miles City, MT) – The Miles Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams have just wrapped up a seven-game road trip this past weekend.  Currently the women’s team is sitting at 8-1 and the men are 7-2.  The women’s lone loss was to Williston State College in the Preseason Mon/Dak Conference Tournament in Williston and both of the men’s losses to are nationally recognized teams, reigning national champs College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, ID this past weekend and North Dakota State College of Science in the Mon/Dak Tournament. 

MCC will host a trio of junior varsity programs from the Frontier Conference this week beginning with Rocky Mountain College on Wednesday, November 30th beginning at 5:30 and 7:30 PM.  Rocky’s two JV coaches have ties to MCC in one way or another; the men’s team is coached by former Pioneer Wes Keller and the women’s team is coached by Austin Tait, the younger brother of MCC’s men’s basketball coach Chase Tait. 

Then University of Montana – Western and the University of Great Falls, along with Central Wyoming College will be here this weekend in the inaugural Miles CC Tournament on Friday and Saturday.  The Pioneers will face Western on Friday at 5:30 and 7:30 PM and then Great Falls on Saturday at 5:00 and 7:00.  The Pioneers will be participating in the Toys for Tots program and will host a toy drive at the tournament this weekend in conjunction with the Miles City Fire Department.  Each person who brings in an unwrapped toy will receive admission for just $2.00.  All of the toys will be given to the MCFD Toys for Tots program to distribute to those in need in the community.

In-state rival Dawson Community College comes to town Wednesday, December 7th for the North Sub-region opener for the Pioneers.  Scheduled tip-off for this game is 5:30 for the women and then the men to follow at 7:30.  Then the next night the Pioneers will host Williston State College in a non-conference matchup to wrap up the fall semester.
