Miles Community College Competed in Cody, WY -- Grady Johnson finishes tied for fifth in all-around in second rodeo

(Miles City, MT) - The Miles Community College rodeo teams competed in their first rodeos of the season this past weekend in Cody, Wyoming. The double rodeo was hosted by Northwest College, a member of the Big Sky Region. The men's team finish seventh in the first rodeo despite having several strong individual performances that didn't count towards the team score. In the second rodeo, the Pioneers finished behind University of Montana, University of Montana - Western, and just 40.5 points behind Montana State University. Freshman Grady Johnson (Crooks, SD) led the men's team in the second rodeo as he landed a fifth place finish in the Men's All-around. He finished third in Bull Riding and eighth in Saddle Bronc. He also finished second in Bull Riding on the first day. Johnson and Luke Gee of the University of Montana were the only two to score both days in Bull Riding. Sophomore Justin Miller (Billings) placed in Bareback Riding both events with a sixth place finish followed by a second. He was just one of three individuals to score both days in the event. Wacy Stuart (Miles City) won the tie-down event in the first rodeo with a time of 9.7 seconds. On the women's side, MCC finished sixth in both rodeos. Sophomore Whitney Grice (Ballentine) placed both days in Barrel Racing, picking up a fourth and sixth place finish respectively. On the second day, joining Grice in the Barrel Racing standings were freshmen Kaitlyn Noll (Coronach, SK) and Kaycee Cross (Pierre, SD) tied for seventh place. Miles Community College will be headed to Havre this weekend to compete in the Montana State University - Northern rodeo beginning on Friday, September 18th.
