Lady Pioneers Prepare for Second Half of Season -- Bak averaging 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds to date

(Miles City, MT) - The Miles Community College Lady Pioneers (9-4 overall, 2-2 Mon/Dak Conference, 1-0 Region IX North) prepare for the second half of the season after they ended 2008 on a three-game winning streak. In all three of those wins, MCC scored at least 75 points, including a season-high 91 points against Little Big Horn College to end the fall semester.

The Lady Pioneers are led by sophomore forward Beata Bak (Poland) averaging nearly 16 points per contest and eight rebounds per contest. In her second season, she's doubled both averages from last year, scoring just seven points and pulling down four rebounds in 31 games. Fellow sophomore Kristen Brady (Lame Deer) is also scoring in double figures, averaging 11.5 points. The 5'7 guard is also pulling down nearly five rebounds for the under-sized Lady Pioneers. Brady is also leading the team in both assists and steals 3.31 and 2.31, respectively. On the season she's shooting better from beyond the three-point line (44.3%) than from the field (43%). She's currently leading the team in three's made with 28 second in assists (3.15) and third in steals (1.85). MCC is averaging over 70 points per contest and shooting 43.4% from the floor. While the defense is giving up just over 57 points per contest and holding the opponents to 31.9% shooting. They are also forcing nearly 23 turnovers per contest scoring on an average 17 points off of turnovers. hitting 54.2% and 51.3% respectively.

Plavljanin is the team's leading scorer off the bench averaging over seven points per contest. converting on 11 of 13 from the charity stripe. the Lady Pioneers have lost someone due to an ACL injury as Fusi Lutui (Salt Lake City) tore hers after just one game into her freshman season. Last year it was Hildreth who was out with the injury. January 1st after a two-week Christmas break. The team is preparing for a trip to Powell Wyoming to face Northwest College this Wednesday January 7th in a Region IX North Sub-region matchup. as they will play six of their seven games on the road this month. February will be the opposite hosting seven of their eight games heading into the Region IX tournament in March.
