MCC Lady Pioneers Defeat Rocky JV 82-53 -- Bak leads team with 19 points

(Miles City, MT) - The Miles Community College Lady Pioneers defeated Rocky Mountain College JV 82-53 last night at the Centra. For the second time these two teams met the margin of victory was the same, 29 points as MCC defeated the Battling Bears 72-43 in the opening game of the season.

The Lady Pioneers were led by a Beata Bak (Poland) with a game-high 19 points on nine-of-15 shooting from the floor in just barely over 21 minutes of action. She also pulled down six rebounds in the contest as well. As a team, the Lady Pioneers shot 50% from the floor (36-of-72) and of their 36 made field goals, 28 of them came off of an assist. Hildreth and Dale Samuels (Denver) each handed out six assists in the win. Also in double figures for Miles was Shannon Hildreth (Riverton, Utah) and Marni Magnuson (Miles City) with 12 and 11, respectively. Hildreth and Charli Mader (Miles City) each pulled down seven rebounds while Magnuson added five. In the first six minutes of the game, the Lady Pioneers used their size and quickness to jump out to an early 21-3 lead. Rocky wouldn't get any closer than 14 as MCC eventually stretched their lead to as many as 36 points in the second half. Miles forced 22 turnovers which led to 27 points.

MCC's defense held Rocky to under 25% from the floor, despite giving up 15 offensive rebounds. RMC only converted them to 10 second chance points, while Miles pulled down 12 offensive rebounds and chipped in 15 second chance points.
