Lady Pioneers defeat Colby CC 72-62 -- Bak finishes with double-double

(Miles City, MT) -- On the final day of the Pizza Hut Invitational in Casper, Wyoming, Miles Community College defeated Colby Community College (Kans.) 72-62.

The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 10-1 lead before Colby hit their first field goal after five minutes into the first half. Miles extended the run to a 21-6 lead at the 11:07 mark. At the half, MCC would take a 36-27 lead into the intermission. In the first half, it was MCC's defense to help build the lead, holding CCC to under 25% from the floor. For the game Colby hit just 33%. Sophomores Beata Bak (Poland) and Marni Magnuson (Miles City) helped MCC win the battle of the boards, 45-31. The pair would pull down 11 and seven, respectively.

Bak also scored a game-high 25 points on 10-for-21 shooting. She also had three blocked shots in the contest. Kristen Brady (Lame Deer) also scored in double digits for the Lady Pioneers pitching in 13 points, adding six rebounds and six assists as well in the win. Lady Pioneers Magnuson and Charli Mader (Miles City) are seeing their first action of the season after completing the volleyball season. They had a total of three practices before playing Thursday evening. Mader pulled down four rebounds in the game tonight. Colby was led by Jaclyn Marshall and Jasmine Gardner with 16 and 14, respectively.

Miles Community College (5-2) is off until Monday, November 24th when they face the Rocky Mountain College JV team for the second time this season. In the opening game of the season the Lady Pioneers defeated Rocky JV 72-43 on Halloween night.
