Sara Plavljanin, a 5-foot-9 guard currently enrolled at Miles (Mont.) Community College, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to attend San Jose State University and become a member of the women’s basketball program.

Plavljanin is a 2010 first-team NJCAA All-Region IX and All-MonDak Conference player who blossomed her sophomore season. She became only the second player in school history to lead the Pioneers in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals and blocked shots in the same season. She averaged 14.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals in 32 games for the 2009-10 season.

"Sara is a great player.  She is a big guard and will give us some size at the perimeter. That is something we lacked last year. She has the ability to shoot and attack off the dribble.  She is very aggressive and averaged over seven rebounds a game last year from the guard position,” said DeCosta.

“We really needed a long-range threat and Sara brings that along with a tremendous basketball IQ.  She can make an immediate impact for us this season."

The Zagreb, Croatia resident more than doubled her scoring and rebounding averages from her freshman season when she averaged 6.6 points and 2.4 rebounds a game. During her community college career, she shot 40.0 percent from three-point range and 49.2 percent from the field.

The 20-year old Plavljanin also was a two-time selection to the MonDak Conference All-Academic Team.
