PIONEERS START POSTSEASON PLAY THURSDAY

The Pioneers won the series against Western Nebraska, 5 games to 1, in the regular season finale this past weekend at Connors Stadium. The Pioneers needed to win four of the games to advance to the postseason.

The Pioneers are heading to Trinidad, CO to take on Trinidad State Junior College on Thursday, May 10 at 4:00 pm. It is a double elimination, bracket style tournament. The Pioneers will play again on Friday, May 11 against either Lamar or Northeastern.

Coach Jeff Brabant is eagerly anticipating the postseason, “We are playing our best baseball right now and that is what you want to be doing at this time of year. This season has been a tale of 3…preseason where we played well, start of conference where we hit a lull and the last three weeks of conference where we have been really good. Now we start part four. We’ll have to play well and endure ups and downs. Nine inning games are something we aren’t used to, but we will adjust. Not many teams are playing this time of year, so we feel fortunate to extend our season.”
