PIONEERS EARN DOUBLEHEADER VICTORY

Game 1

(Miles City, MT) A big fifth inning led the Pioneers to a 8-1 victory in Saturday’s first game against McCook . Will Riley, Nate Bloxham, Kyhler Thomson, Braxton Boyle, and Mason Baker all had RBIs in the inning.

Kolton Bleggi got the win on the mound for the Pioneers. He pitched seven innings, allowed one run on seven hits, struck out four and walked one.

Will Riley led the Pioneers in hitting, going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Game 2

The Pioneers were clutch in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring four runs to break a tied ballgame and get the victory 6-2.

Braxton Boyle got the win on the mound for the Pioneers. He allowed seven hits and two runs over seven innings and struck out two.

The Pioneers had nine hits in the game. Nate Bloxham and Will Riley each had multiple hits on the day. Bloxham led MCC in hitting with three hits on three at bats.

“Today we won two in different ways,” commented coach Jeff Brabant. “We beat a good pitcher on the mound for them in game one and ran away with it. We grinded a tough battle in game two and just outlasted them. Brax and Bleg were very good again today. We need to put in a solid effort tomorrow to give ourselves a chance.”

The Pioneers will be on the field again tomorrow for a doubleheader against McCook starting at 1:00 pm.
