Head coach Nate Vogel announced that Kyra Fleharty is planning to continue her career as a student athlete next season at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA.

Fleharty is originally from Lewistown, MT. Kyra played two years in a Pioneer uniform and her talent and ability will be missed. In her freshman year Kyra averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. In her sophomore year, she averaged 9.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

“Being at MCC has taught me independence and accountability,” Fleharty commented. “My time as a Pioneer has also provided me with the playing time and experience that will be vital at the next level.”

Coach Vogel is extremely proud of Kyra, “I’m excited that Kyra will get the opportunity to continue playing the game she loves. Kyra has made some of the biggest improvements I’ve seen in a player in a 1 year time span. Her willingness to spend extra time in the gym has obviously paid off. Her skill set allows her to play inside or out. She’s a tough matchup for the opposing team. I was very fortunate to be able to coach Kyra this season and think she will do great at Eastern Nazarene. I’m excited to follow her progress. She has a bright future ahead!”

Fleharty is looking forward to the challenges of playing different competition at the next level. She is also excited about moving farther away from home and getting to experience new things. While Kyra will be far from home, there will be a bit familiarity because some of her former Pioneer teammates also play at Nazarene.

Eastern Nazarene College is a member of the New England Collegiate Conference(NECC) within NCAA DIII.
