PIONEERS SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST MCCOOK

Game 1

(Miles City, MT) The Pioneers started off hot in game 1, starting the game with 3 home runs and a single in the first.  After the first inning, the Pioneers held a 6-1 lead, helping them cruise past the Indians 11-6. 

Parker McRae got the win on the mound.  He lasted six innings, allowed nine hits, six runs, struck out one and walked one.  Mitch Hughson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen for the Pioneers.

Nate Bloxham, Kolton Bleggi, and Steven Reinig all had home runs in the first inning.  The Pioneers had 14 hits on the day.  Bloxham, Bleggi, Kyhler Thomson, and Will Riley each had multiple hits.  Bloxham led the team in hits with three.

  Game 2

The game came down to the Indian’s last at bat, but the Pioneers were able to hold them off and get the victory 5-4.

Jonathan Ringer got the win for the Pioneers on the mound. He pitched six innings, gave up two runs on three hits and struck out four. Luke Turner pitched one inning in relief out of the bullpen and recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Pioneers.

James Martin and Kyhler Thomson each had two hits to lead the Pioneers in hitting. Not a single error was committed in the field and Kolton Bleggi had the most chances in the field at nine.

Coach Jeff Brabant was proud of his team today, “I’ve coached a lot of games on that yard…alot! I've never seen game 1 start like that in all my days. We took momentum right away and never looked back on the day. We did a good job of tacking on and pitched pretty well. We have to come out focused tomorrow and win every pitch.”

The Pioneers will be on their home field again tomorrow for another doubleheader against McCook starting at 1:00 pm.
