PIONEERS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER IN LAMAR

Game 1

(Lamar, CO) The Pioneers kept the game close until the fourth inning, when the Lopes were able to score four runs. Lamar ultimately proved to be too much for the Pioneers in the first game. The Pioneers fell 1-6 to the Lopes.

Kolton Bleggi took the loss for the Pioneers. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowed six runs on six hits and struck out two.

Will Riley led the Pioneers in hitting, going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Game 2

Big hitting led the Pioneers to an 11-4 victory over the Lopes in the second half of the doubleheader.

The Pioneers had thirteen hits in the game. Nate Bloxham, Will Riley, and Steven Reinig all had multiple hits.  Bloxham and Riley led the way with four hits each.

Braxton Boyle got the win on the pitcher’s mound. He pitched six innings, allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out seven. Logan DeCock threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Coach Brabant was pleased with his team’s performance today,“We didn’t put very good swings together in the first game. Our approaches weren’t what we work on. Game two was a completely different story. Kolton and Braxton were very good on the mound today. We need to use this momentum because we are very capable of making a good run.”
