Game 1

A huge 10 run first inning for the Plainsmen left MCC in a big hole early that they were unable to overcome in their 2-25 loss.

Jared Bellows led the Pioneers in hits, going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Beau Thomas got the loss for the Pioneers. He lasted one-third inning, allowing three hits, eight runs, and stuck out one.

Game 2

Once again, the Pioneers got down early, making it difficult for them to find a rhythm in the game and eventually falling to the Plainsmen 3-6.

The seventh inning was the bright spot for the Pioneers, as all three of their runs came in this inning. Kyhler Thomson had an RBI home run in the inning. Jared Bellows, Will Riley, and Kyhler Thomson led the team in hits with one a piece. The Pioneers did not commit any errors in the field, with Bellows making the most plays with nine.

Kolton Bleggi got the loss on the mound for the Pioneers. He lasted six innings, giving up six runs on ten hits, striking out five and walking one.

“Wins or losses are secondary,” coach Brabant exclaimed after the game. “Krat went down with a pretty serious injury, so this is our number one concern right now. When we know the severity and the outcome, then we can focus elsewhere.”

The Pioneers will be on the field in Sterling again Monday, April 9 for a doubleheader starting at 11:00 am.
