PIONEERS' STRUGGLES CONTINUE IN TRINIDAD

Trinidad, CO – The MCC baseball team dropped the second straight doubleheader toTrinidad State Junior College on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers fell, 0-15 in game one, and 5-9 in the second half of the doubleheader.

  Game 1

The Pioneers got behind early and had trouble finding any offense against the Trojans. The Pioneers also struggled defensively and didn’t have an answer for the big bats of the Trojans, giving up 15 runs and getting shut out 0-15.

Kolton Bleggi, Nate Bloxham, Bryce Krattiger, and Kyhler Thomson each had one hit to lead the Pioneers.

Kolton Bleggi got the loss for MCC on the pitcher’s mound. Bleggi lasted two and a third innings, allowed six hits, eight runs, and stuck out one.

Game 2

The Pioneers took an early first inning lead, scoring three runs in the first. However, Trinidad proved to be too much for the Pioneers, as they just would not go away. The Pioneers were unable to hold on to the first inning lead and fell to the Trojans 5-9.

The Pioneers had seven hits in the game. Bryce Krattiger and Will Riley each had two hits to lead the Pioneers.

Braxton Boyle took the loss for the Pioneers. He lasted four innings, gave up eight runs on seven hits, struck out four and walked zero.

Coach Jeff Brabant commented on his team’s efforts today, “Same as yesterday, we didn’t have enough out of our offense. We had too many strikeouts and I lost count at 15 walks on the mound today. We are a MASH unit right now as well. A few guys out of position and asking guys to do things out of the norm. Tomorrow is a new opportunity.”

The Pioneers get two more chances at the Trojans tomorrow. The doubleheader starts at 1:00 pm.
