The Pioneers were set for a rematch against Central Wyoming College on Friday night at the Kailey Gymnasium. The Rustlers beat the Pioneers at their last meeting on February 19, so the Pioneers were set on redemption. MCC started out hot, hitting from three early to take a quick lead. The Rustlers were able to battle back late in the second quarter, cutting the score at the half to 32-29. With a huge offensive second half, the Pioneers opened it up and outscored the Rustlers 27 to 5 in the third quarter and 16 to 8 in the fourth. The Pioneers got the easy win 75-42. Coach Nate Vogel commented on the victory, “It was good to see our team overcome the absence of Bre Moea’i. We made some defensive adjustments at halftime that paid off and that led us to a great second half.”

Patrycja Jaworska was the high scorer with 20 points. Paula Rosella contributed 15 and Dakota Dosch added 14. Kyra Fleharty led the team in rebounds with 10.

The Pioneers will head to Casper, Wy for the Region IX Elite Eight on Thursday, March 8 to take on Eastern Wyoming at 5:00 pm.
