EARLY SUCCESS FOR PIONEERS AT WESTERN NEBRASKA - GAME 2

Game 2

The Pioneers found themselves in an early hole in the second game of the double header as Western Nebraska scored 4 runs in the 1st inning. MCC rallied back and took the lead for good, scoring 5 runs in the 2nd inning. The Pioneers had another big inning in the 6th, scoring eight runs.

Beau Thomas pitched the Pioneers to victory, allowing three hits and four runs over three and a third innings, striking out six.

Will Riley led the Pioneers in hitting with two hits on three bats.

The Pioneers won the second half of the double header 17-7 on the 10 run mercy rule. Coach Jeff Brabant commented, “Our approaches and plans at the plate improved from the first game.  If we can learn and understand from our mistakes and adjust from game to game and even pitch to pitch, we'll be able to put up crooked numbers and that is how you win baseball games.”

The Pioneers will be in action again Sunday, February 18 with another double header against Western Nebraska. The games will be at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm.
