EARLY SUCCESS FOR PIONEERS AT WESTERN NEBRASKA - GAME 1

Pioneer Baseball traveled to Scottsbluff, NE to take on Western Nebraska Community College. The Pioneers got their 2018 season off to a great start by winning both games of the double header today.

Game 1

The first half of the double header was a come from behind victory for the Pioneers. The Pioneers took the lead in the 7th inning when Nate Bloxham drove in 4 runs. Bloxham went 2 for 5 from the plate on the day, driving in runs in the 3rd inning with a home run and again in the 5th inning. Mason Baker also hit a home run in the 5th.

Chase Linn earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Pioneers. He went 3 innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Logan DeCock threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Decock recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Pioneers. Parker McRae started the game for the Pioneers, allowing 11 hits and 11 runs over three innings, striking out two.

MCC tallied eight hits on the day. Jonathon Ringer let the Pioneers in hitting with three hits in four bats.

The Pioneers defeated Western Nebraska 14-12. Coach Jeff Brabant commented, “To come back after that deficit and get the win says a lot about our character and our maturity. When you can find multiple ways to win, you create a lot of confidence.”
