OLONADE'S 32 POINTS NOT ENOUGH, MCC FALLS TO CASPER IN OT

It was an overtime thriller at the Kailey Gymnasium on Friday night. The Pioneers played great, outrebounding and outshooting Casper. The difference came at the line, where the Thunderbirds made 21 more free throws than the Pioneers. “I was happy with how we competed and with how we played,” Coach Chase Tait commented. “Our defense was better, our rebounding was better, and we moved the ball very well. We had some missed opportunities when we didn’t convert some open looks and layups.” It was a nail-biting game right up to the last possession. In the end, the Pioneers fell short, losing 94-97. Despite the loss, Coach Tait sees is optimistic, “We are improving and that is what you want to be doing in January and February. I hope we gained some confidence from this game that we can play with everyone in the league.”

Erie Olonade recorded a double-double with 32 points and 13 rebounds. Gavin Gundlach added 14 to the effort.

The Pioneers will be in action again on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:30 pm in Sheridan, WY.
