Basketball (W)

Wednesday night’s “Blue Out” game brought out an impressive crowd to watch the Pioneers take on the Dawson Buccaneers. The Pioneers held a lead for the majority of the game. Mental mistakes hurt the Women, making the victory harder to come by. However, the Pioneers pulled it out in the end with a 71-61 win.

Patrycja Jaworska led the team in scoring with 18 points, followed by Kylee Meredith with 12.

Coach Nate Vogel commented, “I’m so appreciative of the fan support we received for our game vs. Dawson. I’ve had a few people tell me that is the most people they’ve seen in our gym for a women’s basketball game. Thank you so much!!

We are still trying to adjust after some injuries we’ve had. Faith Tarter joined our team on Tuesday and we threw her into the fire right away on Wednesday night. She will definitely help us as soon as she’s had some time to learn our system. We are hoping to have Brooks Carillo play her first game on Friday. Although we are 9-2, we are well aware of how much work we need to put in to get better.

Thank you again to all of our fans. I’m very fortunate to coach and our team is very fortunate to play at a place where women’s basketball has the support that it has from this great community!!"

The Pioneers will be on the road next, taking on the North Dakota All Stars on Friday, December 8th at 1:00pm and Williston State on Saturday, December 9th at 3:00pm.
