The Pioneers traveled to Lake Region State College this weekend to participate in the Holiday Inn Express Classic. Friday night the Pioneers played the host team, Lake Region State College. MCC started off shooting the ball well and went into half-time with a 61-47 lead. The second half proved to be a little more difficult for the Pioneers as the game slipped away and they ended up losing 102-97. Coach Chase Tait commented, "We played a fantastic first half and the half-time break took away our momentum. We were outscored 55-36 in the second half. We just couldn't get stops and didn't shoot the ball very well in the second half."

Perion Little (19) and Erie Olonade(17) were the top scorers for the Pioneers.

Saturday the Pioneers took on the Dakota College Jacks. It was another close game for the Pioneers, but 15 first half turnovers and 25 for the game really hurt and made the difference. "Our ball control was our demise. The turnovers were too much to overcome. Most of those turnovers were unforced and we also missed multiple layups. We had a chance to put them away in the first half, but couldn't get out of our own way;" Coach Chase Tait commented after the game.

Erie Olonade was the high scorer with 27.

Overall about the weekend, Coach Chase Tait said, "I feel like we let 2 games get away. We had ample chances both nights to come out on top and just didn't make the necessary plays to do so."

The Pioneers are on the road again on Wednesday, November 15th. They head to Dawson to play the Buccaneers at 7:30pm.
