Windy Weekend In Medora for Pioneer Golf

(Medora, ND) The Miles Community College men’s and women’s golf teams traveled to North Dakota and competed in the Dickinson State University Bluehawk Invitational this Sunday and Monday.

Playing conditions were harsh on the weekend and the tournament saw scores that were much higher than normal due to them. Jared Lentz took home the tournament title with a final two round score of +3 (147, 75-72), Jimmy Cielsk from the University of Great Falls finished second at +7 (151, 77-74).

With just two players finishing below the 10-over par mark, the Bully Pulpit Course in Medora held its own thanks to weather conditions that head coach Chase Tait described as, “Really cold…Really Windy.”

Day two didn’t see much change other than the wind dying down and scores dropping much closer to the norm.

“Cold…Not windy,” is how Chase Tait described day 2 and the golfers took advantage. The Scoring average on Day 1 was 86.2 while the golfers from Jamestown College, Valley City State, University of Great Falls, Dickinson State, and MCC averaged four shots less at 82.8 on day 2.

MCC struggled with the weather on the weekend but similar to the field, saw improvement on day 2. The Pioneers will travel to Billings, MT where they will take part in the Battlin’ Bear Invitational on April 23. The Event will take place at Peter Yegen Golf course on the west end of Billings.
