Pioneers Struggle on Offense in Loss to Casper

Box Score

(Miles City, MT) The MCC Lady Pioneers took on the Casper College Thunderbirds in a Region IX contest last Saturday.

The Pioneers struggled on both ends of the floor Saturday night as they fell to the Thunderbirds 71-32.

MCC shot just 34% (13-38) from the field and 10% (1-10) from beyond the arc. Torio, the leading scorer for the Lady Pioneers this season, also plays the main role in facilitating the offense for the Lady ‘Neers and she was the missing link in Saturday’s game. MCC went on to turn the ball over 29 times in the game.

The struggles for MCC continued on the defensive end of the floor as they could only force eight turnovers on the game, and allowed Casper to shoot an astounding 45% (29-64) from the field and 33% (7-21) for the three-point line.

MCC’s Jennifer Burnham was the only Pioneer to eclipse double digits, while Casper’s Paula Orenes Sanchez led the game with 17 points.

Next up for the Lady ‘Neers:

MCC will host Western Wyoming and Central Wyoming on Thursday and Friday in Miles City. The Lady Pioneers lost their road game to WWC earlier in January but picked up the win against CWC on the same road trip. The Lady Pioneers are sitting middle of the pack in Region IX at the halfway point of their conference schedule but can make up some ground with two wins this weekend.
