MCC Hires Chase Soennichsen as next Head Volleyball Coach

Miles Community College is proud to announce that Chase Soennichsen has been hired as the new head volleyball coach for the Lady Pioneers.

MCC President, Dr. Stacy Klippenstein, says, "We are excited to have Chase join our MCC family and lead our new volleyball program. His coaching and playing experience, his knowledge of Montana student-athletes, and his enthusiasm makes him a great addition to MCC."

Soennichsen is a Gardiner, Montana native who has been around volleyball since he was a young child. As a high school student, he played in the International Goodwill Games and he carries on as an adult by playing Men’s Club Volleyball. His passion for volleyball helped him achieve nine years’ worth of head coaching positions at three high schools in Montana.

As the head coach at Denton Public Schools, his team reached the divisional tournament two of the three years he coached and his team had a third place finish at districts. At Denton, he had two players earn All-State selections. As head coach at Roundup High School, his teams reached the divisional tournament and finished third in the conference for two seasons with three players being selected as All-Conference players. Most recently, Soennichsen was the head coach at Shepherd Public Schools where his team reached the divisional tournament. At Shepherd Public Schools, he had four players receive All-Conference selections and one First Team All-State selection. He has also helped coach at the club level for Billings Central High School.

When asked about becoming the new head coach for Miles Community College, Soennichsen says, “How does someone who's wanted and dreamed for something so long describe their life when the dream is fulfilled? It's awe striking and extremely humbling.”

The MCC volleyball program will compete at the Division I level in the National Junior College Athletic Association, Region IX.
