Box Score

(Miles City, MT) The Miles Community College men’s basketball team took on the Sheridan Generals in a Region IX conference game on Wednesday night at Kailey Gymnasium.

Miles Community College (7-10, 0-2) came into Wednesday night’s contest after dropping their first two Region IX games in Wyoming last weekend. The Sheridan Generals are coming into Miles City after a splitting two Region IX games last weekend. One of the wins was against sub-region favorite, Gillette College.

The Pioneers got off to a rocky start in the first half mustering just 10 points in the first 14 minutes of the first half. A stingy General defense held strong in the first half as the Pioneers struggled to find their form on the offensive end of the floor. After shooting just 26% from the floor and a dismal 10% from beyond the arc, MCC was outscored by a high-powered Sheridan offense 51-21 in the first half.

The second half was a similar story to the first. Despite a 17 point second half from Montenia Nelson, MCC couldn’t find their bearings as they went on to drop their home conference opener 96-60.

MCC’s Montenia Nelson led the game in scoring with 27 points while Kameron Rauch would also find himself in double digits while falling just one rebound short of a double-double. Sheridan College’s Ladan Ricketts, a Livingston, MT native, led the Generals in scoring with 21 points.

Next up for the ‘Neers:

After Wednesday’s loss, the Pioneers drop to 7-11 on the season and 0-3 in Region IX play. MCC will hit the road this weekend as they head to Powell, WY to take on the Northwest College Trappers on Saturday afternoon. There is a live feed available for Saturday’s contest under the schedules tab at
