Lady P's race passed Little Big Horn

(Miles City, MT) The Lady Pioneers hosted the Lady Rams of Little Big Horn College to their first of two conference meetings on the season. In the previous two games for the Lady P’s they have dropped a pair of very close and intense games, and they were looking to get a much needed conference win this late in the season. MCC has had success against the Lady Rams in the past and were hoping that success would carry over to Wednesday’s game.

The Lady Pioneers had a great start to the game, in the 1st quarter they were off to a great start with a score of 16-9 in the first 5 minutes. In the next 5 minutes of the quarter MCC continued to expand their lead to 33-14. The 33 points in the first was one of the best starts for the Pioneers of the season. The 2nd quarter was a bit of a stalemate for the two teams in the first half of the quarter, as MCC and LBHC struggled to score. In the final 5 minutes of the first half, the Pioneers started scoring and ended the half strong. The Pioneers won the second quarter as they outscored 21-12, and the score at halftime was 54-26. The Lady P’s started off the 3rd quarter strong coming out of halftime with a 10-0 run. The score was 64-26, with 7:32 left in the quarter. The rest of the third period was all Lady P’s as they continued to increase the lead, and the score at the end of the quarter was 74-37. At the start of the 4th quarter the Pioneers got off to another strong 10-1 run on the Lady Rams. In the final 5 minutes of the final quarter the lady Pioneers continued to add to the lead. The Pioneers finished the game strong, as they ended up winning by their largest margin of the season. The final score was 91-46, with the Lady P’s on top. The Lady P’s dominated the game in the Paint as they outscored their opponent 50-12. MCC outperformed LBHC in just about every other aspect of the game.

The Lady P’s had four players who lit up the score board on Wednesday night. Freshman Forward Savannah Weidauer, led the Lady P’s with 22 points on 9-of-19 shooting on the night, and she also managed to grab 8 rebounds. Theresa Mac-Dangosu, followed with 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Off of the bench, Freshman Tia Torio, scored 12 points on 2-of-5 shooting from 3-pt range. Torio also grabbed 7 rebounds for the Pioneers. Shelby Holmes added 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, and she also dished out 4 assists.

The Lady P’s now sit with a (10-14) record on the season, and they are now (3-6) in Region 9 play. Their next game will be on Saturday, Feb. 6th at 2pm against Sheridan College
