Mac-Dangosu leads Pioneers past Tetons

(Miles City, MT) Saturday night the Lady Pioneers hosted the Williston State Tetons in their second meeting of the season. In their previous meeting, MCC played a less than pretty game, however still managed to come out on top with a final of 66-64. On Saturday, the Lady P’s would look to defeat Williston twice in one season for the first time in the Coach Lewis era.

Miles CC had a tight first quarter up until the 3:45 mark when the Pioneers started their 12-3 run to end the quarter. The second quarter was just as tight as the first was, however the Lady Pioneers didn’t give any ground to the Tetons. The score at half time was 46-36 in favor of MCC. In the third quarter the Pioneers expanded their lead from 10 points to 14 at the end of the third. Miles Community College eventually would pull away later in the fourth quarter and ended the game 86-67 in favor of the Lady P’s.

The Lady P’s were led in scoring by sophomore Theresa Mac-Dangosu as she put up a double-double. Mac-Dangosu scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The 28 points were a season high for Mac-Dangosu. The Pioneers had other players who scored double digits. Kayla Torio(11), Tia Torio(11), Chelsey Borden(11), and Savannah Weidauer(10).

Miles outdueled the Lady Tetons in several team statistics. Pioneers were +9 in Bench Points, +12 in Points in the Paint, +8 in Points off Turnovers, +1 in rebounds, and +4 in Free Throws.

With the win MCC advances to 4-3 on the season. The Pioneers will travel to the College of Southern Idaho over Thanksgiving break to compete in their annual tournament. The will play against CSI, and Treasure Valley.
