Lady P's hang on late against Williston

(Williston, ND) The Lady P’s continued their play in the Williston Invite on Saturday afternoon against Williston State College. This would be the first meeting between the two teams on the year. The Pioneers led for nearly the entire first half they took their first lead in the first quarter at the 6:27 mark with a 5-4 lead, however the Pioneers gave up the lead late in the second quarter when the Tetons went on a 13-to-0 run to end the half. The score at half time was 34-27 WSC on top.

The third quarter was a battle between both teams, as the Pioneers battled their way back to tie the game at the end of the quarter with a score of 45-45. In the fourth quarter there were only two lead changes, and MCC pulled away midway through the quarter and had a 9 point, and made it a 60-51 game at the 3:48 mark. In the next two minutes the Tetons showed some life and cut the lead down to one, however the Lady P’s did just enough to maintain that lead, as the final score was 66-64.

The leading score for the Lady Pioneers was Guard Chelsey Borden, who came off the bench to score 18 points for MCC and 6 of those points came in the fourth quarter. This was Borden’s highest scoring outing of the season.
