Lady Pioneers drop two conference games on road

The Lady Pioneers entered the second half of their conference schedule at 5-1 and in a tie for first place this past weekend. Friday, they dropped to 5-2 after Central Wyoming College outlasted the Ladies for a 61-47 victory. Trying to rebound from Friday's loss, the Women squared off against Northwest College of Powell, WY Saturday evening and returned to Miles City with a 80-45 setback at the hands of the Lady Trappers.

MCC 47, CWC 61

Central Wyoming College forced 24 MCC turnovers and shot 44% from the field on their way to the conference victory.

MCC struggled to get their offense going as they shot 23% from the field and 18% from beyond the arc.

In 36 minutes, Sophomore Petra Lumpert led all scorers with 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 7-of-10 shooting from the free throw line. She grabbed 7 rebounds before fouling out of the contest.

Fellow Sophomore Jaycin Tini poured in 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting, 2-of-4 from the 3 pt. line, and a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. She pulled down 5 rebounds in the loss.

With the loss, dropped their record to 5-2 in Region IX and 15-8 overall.

MCC 45, NWC 80

MCC struggled offensively for the second night in a row as they shot 22% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. NWC forced 21 MCC turnovers, dropping Miles CC to 5-3 in Region IX and 15-9 overall.

Theresa Mac-Dangosu finished 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-8 from the line in tallying 14 points, while snagging 5 rebounds off the bench. Tini finished with 9 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.

Shelby Weeks finished with 6 points and 4 rebounds, while Mikaya Givens pulled down 8 rebounds and chipped in 4 points.

MCC looks to get back on track when they return home Friday, February 6th at 5:30 pm against Casper College. They continue their home-stand on Saturday, February 7th at 3:00 pm when they host Western Wyoming College.
