Women begin Region IX play with split on the road

The Ladies Pioneers of Miles Community College continued their 2015 season as they hit the road for the first two games of Region IX play when they traveled to Rock Springs and Casper Wyoming.

Miles CC 74, Western Wyoming CC 64

On Friday evening, the Ladies shot 48.8% (21-43) from the field ,including 9-20 from three point range and converted on 23-26 free throws on their way to a 1-0 record in the North sub region of Region IX.

In 30 minutes, Shelby Weeks converted on 11-12 free throws on her way to 13 points. Petra Lumpert led the charge with 23 points as three other Pioneers notched double figure scoring nights, including Weeks.

Jaycin Tini connected on 5 three point baskets on her way to 17 points. Tini added 9 rebounds. Theresa Mac-Dangosu chipped in 13 points while snagging 7 rebounds.

With the win, the Pioneers improved their record to 10-6 overall and 1-0 in Region IX.

Casper College 77, Miles CC 71

Lumpert led 5 Pioneers in double figures with 16 points on 5-9 shooting, while dishing out 4 assists.

Tini added 13 points while Mac-Dangosu, Shelby Weeks, and Shelby Holmes each chipped in 11 points, respectively.

Holmes added 6 rebounds while Mac-Dangosu pulled down 7 rebounds as the loss dropped dropped MCC to 10-7 overall and 1-1 in Region IX

Miles returns home for their first two conference showdowns when they play host to Central Wyoming College on Friday, January 16th at 5:30 PM and continue the two game home-stand when they tip-off against Northwest College at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 17th.
