Lady Pioneers fall to Bismarck, race past UTTC

(Bismarck, ND) After falling behind 64-51 at intermission, the Lady Pioneers late push wasn't enough to overcome the Lady Mystics of Bismarck State College, eventually falling 98-91 on Friday evening in game 1 of the Bismarck State Tournament.

BSC took advantage of 20 MCC turnovers on their way to 25 points for the seven point victory. MCC out-rebounded the Mystics 45-38 and dished out 19 assists compared to BSC's 15. BSC connected on 14 three pt. baskets, compared to MCC's 10.

Miles was led by Petra Lumpert's 26 points and 8 assists. Jaycin Tini was one rebound shy of a double-double as she poured in 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Kayla Torio added 11 points and Shelby Holmes chipped in 6 points and 7 rebounds.

With the loss, the Pioneers dropped their record to 7-5.

In game 2 of the tournament, MCC rebounded with an impressive 84-40 victory over the United Tribes Technical College Lady Thunderbirds.

MCC received 17 bench points from Mikaya Givens. Givens added 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Sophomore guard Shelby Weeks added 20 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Savanah Robinson chipped in 17 points and 4 rebounds. Petra Lumpert added 11 points to help improve MCC's record to 8-5.

The Pioneers close out the year and the majority of their non-conference schedule when they play host to Region 13 member, Dawson Community College Buccaneers. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm on Friday, December 12th inside Kailey Gymnasium.
